League of Augsburg - A Taste of Victory! Scenarios for 1676-1693 Beneath The Lily Banners
Condition: As New
Format: A4 hard back wargames guide book
This book offers eighteen carefully chosen historical scenarios for wargaming battles between 1676 and 1693. Each game can be completed in under three hours on a table size which will be accessible to most home set-ups. The theatres and conflicts featured give a broad view of the period whilst concentrating on the major conflict known as the Nine Years War (1688-1697), fought between France and the Grand Alliance.
Rather than attempt to replicate enormous actions, these scenarios choose key points in famous battles. This allows gamers to use their collections to best effect by refighting the important moments of large battles without the need to paint hundreds of models first. The iconic engagements you might expect are featured: Walcourt, The Boyne, Fleurus, Aughrim, Steenkirke and Neerwinden.
The inclusion of less well known yet decisive actions such as Herderbosch and Orbassano, will allow enthusiasts to explore new avenues of interest. Beyond the European theatre, the war’s colonial dimensions are represented by battles in Canada and the Caribbean. Other important conflicts including Europe’s long-running struggle with the Ottoman Empire also feature. The Siege of Vienna and the Battle of Kalamata offer an opportunity to use unusual troop combinations in challenging situations.
The scenarios are written for use with ‘The War of Three Kings (Beneath the Lily Banners 3 rd Edition). The orders of battle use the terminology of the rule system. If you use another rule system, the maps, orbats and information can be painlessly adapted with no distortion of the scenario or, impact on playability or potential outcomes.
This is fodder for game night at home or the club. Easy set-ups, manageable numbers of units, and the chance to re-fight the most exciting moments of epic battles!
